May 12, 403 – Saint Epiphanius Buried

Saint Epiphanius, the Bishop of Cyrus, is commemorated on May 12, the date of his burial in 403 after a life of defense of the Orthodox faith. Epiphanius converted to Christianity after witnessing a monk’s act of compassion, and he later became a disciple of Saint Hilarion. Epiphanius became widely known for his miracles, avoidance of indulgence, and commitment to Orthodox teachings, and he was chosen as Bishop of Salamis in 367. His major works Panarion and Ancoratus refuted heresies and advocated for Church tradition. He was buried on May 12, 403.
