March 29, 1824 – Hans Hauge, Norwegian Preacher, Dies

Hans Hauge felt the call to ministry very early in his life. Growing up in Norway, this was a challenge because only those who were approved by the Lutheran Church were allowed to preach. In fact, it was actually against the law to preach without first being licensed to do so. In the early 1800s, Hauge went house to house preaching the Gospel, suffering numerous imprisonments. Before his death on March 29, 1824, Hauge brought about great social change in Norway because of his refusal to ignore the Great Commission despite the laws of his nation.
