Endicott Peabody first arrived in Arizona on January 29, 1882, from Boston’s Episcopal Divinity School just three months after the famed Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. He went on to establish St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (Pictured) in Tombstone, Arizona, and then returned to Boston where he founded Groton School for Boys in 1884. Later in his life, he performed the marriage ceremony for one of his student’s and future president, Franklin D. Roosevelt. He also had a grandson who would become governor of Massachusetts, and his great-great-granddaughter is actress Kyra Sedgwick.
