January 22, 1915 – Anna Bartlett Warner Dies

Anna Bartlett Warner died on January 22, 1915. Raised across the street from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, she grew up in an affluent family. However, her father then lost his wealth in the Panic of 1837. To compensate, Anna and her sister Susan wrote several children’s novels and other books in order to make money for their family. Anna also wrote the quintessential children’s hymn “Jesus Loves Me,” demonstrating that her impact can still be felt even generations after her death.
