February 25, 1934 – Sir Leonard Woolley Finishes Archaeological Dig in Ur

Ur, the place God called Abram (later Abraham) from, was the site of a major archaeological dig that ended on February 25, 1934. This dig was conducted by Sir Leonard Woolley. Woolley had worked in Mesopotamia assisted by T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) for decades when he turned his attention to Ur. Several of his discoveries validate components of Scripture. Pictured is a palace entrance that he and his team discovered in Ur.
