The BBC History Magazine (British Broadcasting Corporation) recently compiled a list of the ten worst Brits of the last 1000 years. Thomas Arundel, former Archbishop of Canterbury, joined the likes of Jack the Ripper and King John on this list of infamy. Archbishop Arundel fought against the Lollards, the group associated with John Wycliffe that was responsible for the first English translation of the Bible. He also fought the Lollards on doctrine that would eventually lead to the Protestant Reformation. Arundel died on February 19, 1414, but not before he had ensured that his name would be remembered for all of the wrong reasons.
